Dave and I finally made it that Mexican restaurant we were supposed to go to last weekend. It’s a very small but quaint little Mexican restaurant in Geneva called Bien Trucha. I may normally have overlooked had it not been for Dave’s family’s recommendations.
Following the complimentary chips and bean dip, we ordered three different tacos to share:
1. Pollo (crispy rolled tortilla, shredded chicken breast, potato hash, crema and queso fresco, morita-serrano salsa)
2. Pastor (ancho-guajillo marinated pork, cilantro, onion, pineapple, morita salsa)
3. Bien Trucha (grilled skirt steak, home-made chorizo, chihuahua, roasted tomatillo-serrano salsa)
That “roasted tomatillo-serrano salsa”… let me tell ya: To. Die. For.
Overall, the place was cozy and very reasonably priced. We each had a drink and split these tacos, all for about $45. Not bad at all!
If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend it… though I hear the wait is hours long on the weekends. We went on a Tuesday night around 6:15 pm so that seemed like a good time to go.
All I know is we’ll definitely be back! We’re already working on scheduling it in.
